Dozens of shallow, round dents across the horizontal panels — paint still whole. This is the textbook case for paintless removal.
Hail damage neither looks nor gets fixed like collision damage. One storm can leave dozens or hundreds of small, round, shallow dents across the flat panels of a car — hood, roof, trunk lid, sometimes the tops of the fenders — and most of the time the paint never breaks. That is the ideal setup for paintless dent removal: the dents are worked out from behind the panels, and your factory finish is left completely alone.
On a hail car that advantage is bigger than anywhere else. A storm strikes every horizontal surface at once, so the conventional route would mean refinishing most of the outside of the vehicle — and every one of those panels would carry a repainted area from then on. Paintless removal sidesteps all of it. The exceptions are larger stones that crack paint or crease metal, and we repair those conventionally alongside the rest. Either way the assessment is free, and it’s part of how we follow OEM repair standards.

Start Your RepairHail is easy to shrug off, because most of it disappears in flat light and none of it keeps the car from driving. Here’s what tends to get missed:
The questions we field most in the week after a storm. If yours isn’t here, call the shop at (614) 471-0505 — we’re glad to walk you through it.
Typically under comprehensive coverage rather than collision, since it’s weather and not an accident. Carry comprehensive and hail is usually covered, subject to your deductible; carry liability only and it generally isn’t. Because it comes down to your specific policy, the one dependable answer is to check yours — and we’re glad to look at it with you and take the claim conversation from there.
A comprehensive claim isn’t an at-fault claim, and insurers usually handle it differently from a collision you caused — a storm isn’t something you did. Even so, rating practices differ from one company to the next and by your claim history, so we won’t promise an outcome your insurer controls. Ask them directly before you decide; it’s a fair question and they hear it all the time.
Most of the time, yes — and it’s the far better result. Hail dents are generally shallow, round and sitting on panels with good access behind them, with the paint intact. That’s precisely what paintless dent removal is built for. The alternative would refinish most of the horizontal surfaces on the vehicle, leaving repainted areas across the whole car. Deeper strikes that cracked the finish get conventional repair, spot by spot.
Some travelling crews do genuinely good work, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Just ask the questions you’d ask anyone: where’s your permanent address, who stands behind the warranty a year from now, who’s actually doing the work and are they certified, and what happens if something needs revisiting once you’ve moved on. Be wary of big deposits up front, and of anyone offering to cover your deductible — that can put you crosswise with your own insurer. Get it in writing either way.
Not straight on and not in flat light — that’s exactly how hail hides. Sight down the panel at a shallow angle with a light or a building reflecting across it, and check the roof, which takes the most and gets looked at the least. If the reflection warps, there are dents under it. A free inspection takes a few minutes and settles the question.
Days rather than hours, scaling with the dent count and how many panels are hit. Light damage on a panel or two can turn around fast; a hard-hit roof, hood and trunk takes longer. After a widespread storm, calendars fill quickly at every shop in the region — a good reason to get assessed early even if you haven’t decided what to do yet.
It can, though not as often as people worry. A vehicle is called a total loss when the cost to repair it approaches its value — so heavy hail on an older or lower-value car can cross that line even while it drives perfectly. That call belongs to your insurer and comes down to the numbers. Either way we’ll give you an accurate assessment and a realistic picture of where your vehicle stands.
The sooner the better. Policies set time limits for reporting damage, and the longer you wait the harder it is to pin the damage to one specific storm — especially if another rolls through. Hail dents don’t heal themselves, and left alone they drag down resale value and turn up on inspection. Even if you’re undecided, documenting it early keeps your options open.
An appointment gets you seen sooner, and after a storm that counts. You can request one online or send photos from your phone — shoot along the panel at an angle with something reflecting in it, not straight down, or the dents won’t show.
